How to change shortcuts on the Nokia E72

Customising shortcuts and homescreen information on the Nokia E72

As a Nokia Eseries S60 smartphone, the Nokia E72 has a powerful selection of applications and functionality onboard. To make it easier  to access some of these features, the Nokia E72's homescreen set up is configured with a number of shortcuts and homescreen information.

As well as two regular softkey shortcut keys on the bottom left and right of the display, the Nokia E72 has a row of six shortcut icons towards the top of the display. Out of the box, these are set-up for quick access to useful functions such as messaging, clock/alarms, Maps (GPS), internet browser and notes. However, these can easily be customised to whatever functions suit you.

There are numerous functions that can be set as shortcuts, and you can also also add browser bookmarks as shortcuts to the homescreen.

Homescreen Modes

As with other Nokia Eseries handsets, the E72 allows you to swap between two different homescreen modes, with a different personalisable homescreen set-up for both.

You can swap between a 'Business' homescreen set-up with certain business-friendly shortcuts for when you're working (Figure 1) and a 'Personal' set-up with more lifestyle features when you're enjoying your downtime out of office hours (Figure 2). The names of these modes can be personalised too, to reflect how you use the phone.

Swapping between modes is easy. It involves simply clicking on the Switch Modes shortcut icon (represented by intertwined black and white arrows) in the shortcuts bar.
